--Road to Hana
The road to Hana is roughly 2-3 hours to drive through if you do not make any stops along the way. However, we would highly recommend making stops along the way. There are so many gorgeous beaches, waterfalls and scenic lookouts that are worth stopping at. Some are a little hard to find and cellular service is pretty bad throughout the drive so make sure you know where you are going before making the trip.
Also, there are not really places to stop to get gas so make sure you fill on up before heading there. Many roads are one lane, and most of the way, the road can be extremely narrow so you are going to be going quite slow.
Pack you cameras to capture some of the exciting moments, some cash to stop off at some foods stands to try to local food and be sure to back your swimwear so that you can jump into some of the waterfalls.
--Maui Winery
At the end of the road to Hana, you can choose from a few activities. You can go up the crater of the volcano there, but most people will recommend you do this for sunrise for some breathtaking views. Another option would be to stop at Maui Wines for a quick wine tasting. It's a small little shop on the tail end of the drive, but it's a nice reward before making the 1-2 hours drive back to wherever you are staying.
--Wailea-Mckenna
This is one of the more popular areas on Maui for people looking to stay on the island. It's packed with shopping, resorts, beaches and all other kinds of things to do in Maui.
--Grand Wailea
The Grand Wailea is an amazing resort. If you stay here or stop by for a drink, you will likely recognize it from many movies. Its situated along Wailea Beach. You can walk along not only the Grand Wailea, but several other resorts along the 1 and 1/2 mile long Wailea Beach Path.
The Grand Wailea also hosts Luau's throughout the week for both guests and the public to purchase tickets to. The food is great and the performances were entertaining so we would highly recommend checking out this luau if looking for things to do in Maui.
--Beaches
There are many beaches in Maui that are worth checking out. A few are located close to Wailea, and those would be Big Beach and Little Beach. Going up further north, Ka'anapali Beach is quite nice as well. Be sure to pack some snorkeling gear with you as many of these areas offer picture perfect blue water to snorkel in.
--Sunsets
When in Maui, you're going to need to take in a few sunsets. One of the most gorgeous sunsets we have ever seen happened here. No matter where you are on the island, you are going to see some beautiful ones. We would recommend finding a nice beach or beach bar on the west side of the island and taking in all of the sights as the sun sets.
--Other things to do in Maui
There are many places to hike in Maui that are definitely worth checking out. We recommend also booking a whale watching trip or catamaran that takes you out into the Pacific. You'll get to see some whales and dolphins up close and personal, and most will take you for some snorkeling or Snuba.
