One of the things that that you hear a lot about the economy is how in order to get ahead you have to put another person down. This is just not the case. What you have to do is build trust and develop reciprocity with other people. People trust good people. Being a better person or being a good person will greatly improve your chances in life.
Because being a good person is so important for the economy, I wanted to share a few insights about how to become a better person.
1. The most important thing is to simply try.
Trying means that you care about yourself and about other people. This is a very strong signal to the rest of the world that you are trustworthy.
2. Invest in yourself.
However you might do it, you should try to invest in yourself. Whether it is taking courses, or having a pet project that you develop over the long term. These investments in yourself not only help to build personal character, but also prove to other people that you are trying to make their life better as well.
3. Be nice to yourself.
We’re often very very hard on ourselves for our shortcomings and if things take a very long time. It’s really important to remember that life is about the journey not about the short-term troubles that you face.
4. Be honest.
People need to know that you’re honest even when it’s very difficult to do so. Sometimes the easiest thing is not being honest, but if you course correct something that you said or did, to a reasonable person as well have long-term impacts on your credibility.
