How do you finish work, a project, school, or a task that is difficult? This video is for those that are midway through a very difficult project, such as creating a start up, paying off a debt, finishing graduate school, writing a paper, or studying for the GMAT.
Everything that is meaningful for you in life is going to be very difficult. There is a sense of accomplishment, and joy in understanding how to get this project done.
I think there’s two really good ways to complete a difficult project. The first one is to envision and focus on what it would be like to complete the project. How are you going to feel? Where are you going to be? Who are you going to be with? You really have to understand how to get there, and envision why you’re doing it in order for you to keep going every day.
The other way is to take joy in the pain and difficulties that you feel. Know that those particularly small moments of pain are helping you grow and develop as a person, because very few people are willing to do what you are trying to do. It is all about framing and perspective at that moment. Doing simple things like smiling or singing to yourself while you do that task can dramatically alter your experiences with that task.
