Why I started drinking fresh coconut water everyday..
A few years ago my uncle was bit by Aedes aegypti (mosquito) and become ill with Dengue Fever. There are different stages of this illness and unfortunately he had a hemorrhagic fever in which his platelets kept dropping (similar to the way they drop in ITP but at a much faster pace). He replaced some of his daily water intake with pure coconut water and after a week his platelets shot back up. He lives in Panama so coconuts are a lot easier to find than here (they literally grown in his backyard).
So we found out that you can order fresh coconuts by the case at Whole Foods and they come imported from different parts of the world. The only down side is they are pricy and I won't know if they are working for me until my next appointment with the specialist but I wanted to share with anyone that might be going through the same thing as me.
I also read that papaya leaf helps raise your platelets but unfortunately it's not considered safe for pregnant women. If any of you have any other suggestions please let me know.
