Deliberate practice requires focused repetition of key aspects of the action to achieve masterful performance. Students of novel material require an immense amount of repetition to unearth and refine subtleties in actions. The following points are inherent to de-liberate practice:
1. Focus on the key actions that lead to masterful performance, since eighty percent of mastery will be driven by twenty percent of the action. Unearthing key actions often requires a trainer who has already perfected them.
2. Repeat these actions, focusing on flawless execution independently of the trainer.
3. Refine and repeat the actions that lead to masterful performance.
4. Focus on eliminating extraneous elements that lead to failure of those actions.
5. Put yourself under stressors that lead to failure until the actions are perfected.
A few helpful tips:
1. Deliberate practice takes a lot of time and resources, so you may require the support of others during this time.
2. Learning can be painful since the required resources are frequently perceived as wasteful.
3. Most likely, you will not see palpable results until you are nearly eighty percent complete.
