Today I show you how I made this 2D "Radial Step Wipe" Effect in After Effects. I mainly saw this shape layer effect while watching some intros on YouTube (notably SharkFX - check out his intros, they're amazing) and I knew I had to recreate it. Whether or not this was how SharkFX and others originally made this effect, I dont know. But what I found out was that this effect is actually really easy to pull off. All you need is an ellipse shape layer with a large stroke and the trim paths function. Then, all you need to do is layer and offset the trim paths and layer it out a bit. Really simple once you understand what's going on under the hood.
