Big Boy 4014 Exits Tunnel, Blowing Whistle & Crossing Trestle! Live Action! Video
Shocking View! The worlds biggest steam locomotive, Big Boy goes through a tunnel and crosses a trestle at Weber Canyon near Echo Canyon, Utah. Big Boy 4014 and 844 teamed up for the Union Pacific Great Race To Odgen. It took 5 years of work to get the Big Boy steam locomotive in operation. I chased it from Evanston, Wyoming to Ogden, Utah and back. The first shot in this video is at Taggarts, Utah Tunnel number 3 and then I show it at Evanston, Wyoming.Taggarts was a very popular spot. There were so many railfans at this location that I had to park and jog about a half mile to my spot on the side of the mountain. Getting down the mountain was easier and I took a short cut down a steep slope that saved some time. I was able to film Big Boy at 3 locations on the chase back to Wyoming. Stay tuned for a bunch more videos of Big Boy that I took over the 75 mile route. Several defect detectors were triggered by the 2nd axel which came over as a hot box.
