FYI, when I first got into the trade, I worked behind Tommy guns like the one in this video for many years.
I was usually the first stick man, or what’s known as the first Darby man.
It was physically challenging but fun at the same time.
The drag was that we had to have our entire body protected from the bounce back and overspray because this stucco back then and still today has Lye in it.
Lye burns the hell out of your skin and eats our clothes like car battery acids.
There were a few more drags to working behind these pumps, but the fun outweighed the drags.
This is why when I left the union and got my own C-35 plastering license, I too bought a large Tommy gun that required at least 8 to 11 men to operate.
I owned that beast for about ten years we got a lot done, but I don't miss it.
