Steam train races diesel train. Trains running side by side. Train meet at Cass. Shay steam locomotive #2 built by Lima in 1928 races an EMD diesel locomotive BL2 #82 built in 1948. Filmed at Spruce West Virginia on the Cass Scenic Railroad and Durbin & Greenbrier Valley Railroad. Filmed July 15, 2017. We rode the steam train from Cass to the race location and the diesel passenger train came from Elkins West Virginia. This is an annual event and all the cabins in Cass were sold out so we stayed at Bear Creek Lodge in Cass which actually has a view of the train station and the live action in Cass. Once again, my money was on the diesel but the diesel continues to lose every year and so did I. Lol.
