Train Passes Through Crowded Neighborhood! Houses Face Tracks Like Main Street, USA, Kentucky Trains Video
These houses all face the CSX main line as if the tracks were Main Street. A huge freight train passes through the homes blowing its horn. This huge, fast train is in Augusta Kentucky on the old Chesapeake & Ohio Railway line from Cincinnati to Russel, Kentucky along the Ohio River. This long train needed 4 huge locomotives on the head end to pull over 9,000 feet of train with 600 axles. There are about 5 or 6 trains a day, including Amtrak on this route. There use to be a lot more trains but most of the coal trains are gone and today there are only 4 scheduled daily freights and Amtrak makes 3 round trips a week between Chicago and New York City. Extra freight trains such as grain and coal can show up at any time. CSX calls out the signals on 160.230 and there is a defect detector just west of Augusta. The shortest way for me to get here from my home is to use the ferry that crosses the Ohio River from Ohio into Kentucky. The ferry costs $5 one way and saves me 17 miles driving.I show part of the ferry boat ride and I show my horse playing in the pond at the end.
