This is my review of the PoolCleaner 4X Next Generation Suction Side cleaner, now a Hayward pool product.
Basically you want to go with the 4-wheel model if you have a large pool over 8 ft deep. If you have a large pool with a side port/ vacuum port in the middle of the pool you can get away with the 2X version. But the 4X will go straighter longer in the pool and it is a well balanced cleaner. So when in doubt go with the 4X model.
So you know Hayward has no intention of discontinuing the Poolvergnuegen Brand as it is a top seller now. If you are wondering this is the same cleaner as the Aquanaut 400 and the Phoenix 4X sold at Leslie's pools.
It is a complicated marketing strategy since Hayward did not want to lose all the Goodwill of the Poolverguegen brand. So they were stuck with keeping this going while they used the patents to create their own cleaner lines to sell.
So this design is the best for a suction side cleaner. The gears are super long lasting and the parts are very durable. An excellent choice for a cleaner. Below are some related videos:
