Jerry the Hawaiian Snail Video
Aloha,
I wrote a song about Hawaiian Snails. Some of our Native mollusks are highly endangered; approximately 90% of the terrestrial Hawaiian snails have gone extinct. The purpose of this song is to bring awareness to our environment and to help protect what few Native organisms we have left in Hawaii. Hope you enjoy it!

My name is Jerry
A Gastropoda from Hawaii
We’re found on land or under the sea
We’re full of diversity
I arrived
By latching on like a tether
Together on a bird’s feathers
Flying through the harsh weather
Here some scientific names
Some of us are alive today
Amastridae, Achatinellidae, Helicinidae
Zonitidae, Helicarionidae
Endodontidae, Pupillidae, Punctidae, Succineidae
Hydrocenidae
And these are some of my Hawaiian Family
Soon after, Human settlements
Razed my habitat and my friends started to slowly disappear
Our shells were
Quickly seized in a blur
They’re gone, in order to see them
Go to Bishop Museum
Us mollusks used to be plenty
But now we’re sold off for money
Our numbers are starting to sink
Ninety-nine percent of us are now extinct
I wish mankind would stop
to think about us
‘Cause we keep the world a good place
I think that’s a fair trade
