I've seen articles geared towards black women about marriage not being for us. Lately, i've seen a few young black women suggest creating communities just for black women and children.
I disagree with this.
The issue isn't men or marriage. The issue as I have seen many times over is so many black womens aversion to the idea of marriage and men, particularly black men.
Far too many in our community put the cart (children) before the horse (marriage) and they expect a traditional outcome. Or, they bemoan marriage altogether as if that is the issue.
Creating a community of just women and children would rob children of a father, their father. And a viable husband for the women. Trust and believe, a community of just women and children would end up being a haven for bums and ne'er do well men. Much like we have now because so many black women prioritize swag and 'eggplant' over if a man is husband material or not.
Choosing the proper base (marriage) would solve a lot of the issues our communities face.
