Marvel Comics used to be the "House of Ideas," but now it's the "House of Nothing" thanks to writers and editors who turn Steve Rogers into the "Captain of Nothing" in his own book.

Editors like Tom Brevoort and Alanna Smith — and writers like Ta-Nehisi Coates — hate heroic ideals because ideals are like sunshine that exposes a spotted window. They endlessly deconstruct heroes because to hold them up as an example would highlight their own shortcomings.
