What are organizational goals and objectives? Organizational goals are strategic objectives that are set by managers. They help to outline expectations for performance and guide efforts.
How do you achieve organizational goals and objectives? The most state current theory often uses some form of behavioral theory in which firms try to achieve a performance objective, and if they do not meet this objective, they try to resolve how to find a solution to the problem.
The problem with this perspective is that managers should have a clear objective and the goals have to be achievable in the short-term. Performance goals are very often not the objective of a lot of organizations. Survival is another goal. Achieving these goals is not always the case. For example, goals with R&D are often not met.
How do might you mitigate some of these problems of achieving organizational goals? You would ensure:
(1) Organizational slack - Give extra time and resources.
(2) Change the performance metrics to observable metrics, rather than outcomes.
(3) Reward the behavior that gets to probable closer to a better outcome.
